In the US: The L.I.F.E. System is a Biofeedback device only that is registered with the FDA as a Biofeedback device. It is not a Class 2 Medical Device in the US as yet. Transformational Technologies: I began my education in biofeedback many years ago as an intern with my mentor, biofeedback and human energy systems expert, Dr. Jack Schwartz, who was an early pioneer in transformational technologies, inventing his own biofeedback brainwave technology called the I.S.I.S. Through Dr. Schwartz I also had the good fortune to meet and study with Dr. Joe Kamiya, who is renown as the "Father of Neurofeedback".
Neurofeedback has been around over 50 years now, thanks to Dr. Kamiya’s early research on Alpha/Theta Neurofeedback, when he established a clinical use for this form of advanced technology. Out of Dr. Kamiya's work, researchers were able to show how Alpha/Theta Neurofeedback and eventually, Biofeedback, was effective in helping with a wide range of health conditions such as Autism, addiction, ADD, anxiety, stress release and calming the brain. Neurofeedback is just now becoming more popular, thanks to advanced transformational technologies, like the L.I.F.E. Professional Biofeedback System.
A First Session:
My first experience using the L.I.F.E. System was many years ago with an autistic child that was about 9 years old and I was told she had never made eye contact with her parents. Her parents were from Singapore, and could not speak English very well. They said their daughter had never stopped moving and flapping her hands, nor could she sit still. I tried sitting her down and put a book in her lap. She immediately threw it at me without looking at me. She stayed in the chair for a while, looking away, constantly flapping her hands. I gave her the harness to hold which she did keep in her lap after a while, while still moving constantly.
About 12-15 minutes into the session, their daughter turned her head slowly and looked at me and made eye contact. I was very surprised, and even more so, because her parents both suddenly began crying and hugging each other. Apparently, their daughter had not made eye contact with anyone before. Both her parents and I were stunned. I saw them again, three days later and their daughter was able to sit and be somewhat quiet, awaiting her session. She actually looked at me and very briefly, smiled once after I worked with her. It certainly seemed that what we are doing helped her to break free from the separate world she was living in.
Her parents had to go back to Singapore and I learned that they eventually bought a L.I.F.E. System. The last time I heard from them, was many years later and their daughter had been able to go to school and was applying to college. I have never forgotten this sweet family, although I have lost touch with them. This is by far one of my favorite experiences.
